If you have searched using Google, you may have noticed that some listings are placed on the right side of the search results. These listings are under “Sponsored Links”. The sponsored links are paid advertising. The websites that are listed on this portion of the search results are paid for by the advertisers. The program that advertisers use is Google AdWords. This is a Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising program wherein the advertisers bid on keywords and pay every time their ads are clicked. With Google AdWords, the advertisers pay for every visitor that the ads direct to their websites. Google AdWords Insider The benefit of Google AdWords is that advertisers only need to pay if the ads generate clicks. The downside is the cost attached to it. Google’s organic listing will display your website basically for free. So why still pay for Google AdWords then? If you use Google AdWords, you can be sure that your website will be listed on a visible portion of the search results. This means that your listing will be able to catch the attention of your target market better compared to what it can do when it is just listed on the organic search result. With Google AdWords, advertisers need to generate a list of relevant keywords which they want their listing to appear on. Google has a guideline as to how many click throughs a keyword must have in order to be retained on the list. Keywords that are not searched for will be removed from the keyword list. Google also checks the validity of the ads. Don’t think you can trick this search tycoon by using ads that are not exactly what your website is all about. Google checks the site and the ads and see any relevance. So make sure that your ads tell exactly about what your website or online business offers. Google has a limited character number for the ads. Advertisers need to say what they want to say in as few words as possible. Some advertisers use symbols instead of words to cut down on the number of characters. Google does not accept this. The ads are checked to ensure they meet all the guidelines set forth by Google AdWords management. When setting up a Google AdWords campaign, do a research first. This is to ensure that you come up with highly, relevant but very specific keywords to include in your keyword list. If you bid on broad keywords, you might be asked to pay exorbitant price per click. Google AdWords is an effective advertising program. It pays to know it well prior to actually giving it a try.
